This recipe uses fresh NatureSweetยฎ Dia de Muertos Seasonal Medley Tomatoes, jalapeรฑos for a bit of spiciness, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime, cumin and salt. Chances are you already have the majority of the ingredients in your kitchen! Can’t find the Dia de Muertos medley? You can use any of the NatureSweetยฎ tomatoes that you find at your local grocery store.
Can I Make Fresh Salsa Ahead of Time?
Yes! The salt in the recipe helps the tomatoes and onions to “sweat.” This produces more liquid for the salsa. You can refrigerate salsa for one day prior to serving in order to allow the flavors to intensify.
Fresh Salsa Ingredients
- NatureSweetยฎ Dia de Muertos Seasonal Medley Tomatoes
- Produce: jalapeรฑos, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime
- Seasonings: ground cumin and salt
Remove the seeds of the jalapeรฑos if you don’t want the salsa to be entirely too spicy.
How to Make Fresh Salsa
Start by preparing the ingredients. Slice the tomatoes in half, remove the stem of the jalapeรฑo, slice in half and remove the seeds if you don’t want the added heat. Quarter the onion, and remove the shell of the garlic. Finish by chopping the cilantro.
Add all ingredients to a food processor.
Pulse about 10 or so times, until all the ingredients are combined and diced. Make sure to stop before the salsa becomes too watery and runny.
Transfer to a bowl and enjoy!
How to Store Fresh Salsa
Salsa will keep for about one week in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator.
