Whether you are enjoying taco night, hosting a football party, have a craving for homemade salsa, or want to use up ingredients from your garden, you can’t go wrong with this fresh salsa recipe! Once you make this fresh salsa recipe, you won’t ever go back to store-bought salsa. Just like our Apple Salsa, Radish Salsa, Tropical Avocado Pineapple Salsa and Mango Salsa, they are all so simple to make.
This recipe uses fresh NatureSweet® Dia de Muertos Seasonal Medley Tomatoes, jalapeños for a bit of spiciness, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime, cumin and salt. Chances are you already have the majority of the ingredients in your kitchen! Can’t find the Dia de Muertos medley? You can use any of the NatureSweet® tomatoes that you find at your local grocery store.
Can I Make Fresh Salsa Ahead of Time?
Yes! The salt in the recipe helps the tomatoes and onions to “sweat.” This produces more liquid for the salsa. You can refrigerate salsa for one day prior to serving in order to allow the flavors to intensify.
Fresh Salsa Ingredients
- NatureSweet® Dia de Muertos Seasonal Medley Tomatoes
- Produce: jalapeños, onion, garlic, cilantro, lime
- Seasonings: ground cumin and salt
Remove the seeds of the jalapeños if you don’t want the salsa to be entirely too spicy.
How to Make Fresh Salsa
Start by preparing the ingredients. Slice the tomatoes in half, remove the stem of the jalapeño, slice in half and remove the seeds if you don’t want the added heat. Quarter the onion, and remove the shell of the garlic. Finish by chopping the cilantro.
Add all ingredients to a food processor.
Pulse about 10 or so times, until all the ingredients are combined and diced. Make sure to stop before the salsa becomes too watery and runny.
Transfer to a bowl and enjoy!
How to Store Fresh Salsa
Salsa will keep for about one week in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator.
