Best of all, this dish comes together in just minutes. Simply chop the fruit, mix in the other ingredients, and you’re done! Serve with chips or use it as a topping for grilled chicken or fish. Regardless of how you enjoy it, this salsa is guaranteed to be a hit!

What is Fruit Salsa?

Fruit salsa is salsa that is made with fruit instead of the traditional tomatoes. While there are endless combinations of fruits that can be used, some of the most popular include apples, berries, peaches, and pineapple. Our favorite combination and inspiration for this recipe is apples, strawberries and blueberries. The fruit is often mixed with lime juice, honey, and mint to create a refreshing and flavor-packed dish.

Enjoy the salsa on its own, as a dip or as a topping. The fruit salsa is usually enjoyed with chips of some sort, but it also tastes great on grilled chicken or fish. It makes a great addition to any summer meal!

How to Store

Fruit salsa is best enjoyed the day it is made. However, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and stored in the fridge. The fruit will begin to break down and release its juices as it sits, so it’s best to enjoy it sooner rather than later.

When you’re ready to enjoy the salsa again, simply give it a good stir. The flavors will have melded together, and the dish will still be tasty.

How Long Does it Last?

Fruit salsa will last in the fridge for 2-3 days. After that, the fruit will begin to break down and release its juices, making the salsa watery and less flavorful.

Can You Freeze Fruit Salsa?

Yes! Freeze the salsa for up to 3 months. Simply place it in a freezer-safe container. When you are ready to enjoy it, thaw in the fridge before serving.

Tips for Making the Best Fruit Salsa

  • Use a combination of sweet and tart fruits. We like to use apples, strawberries, and blueberries.
  • The lime juice is key! Don’t skip it or substitute it with lemon juice. The lime juice gives the salsa a bright flavor that ties all of the ingredients together.
  • Add the honey to taste. We like our salsa on the sweet side, but you can add less or more honey to suit your preferences.
  • If you want a little spice, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or jalapeño pepper. .
  • For the best results and consistency, chop the fruit into small pieces.
  • Be sure to taste the salsa and adjust the seasonings as necessary. Remember that it is always easier to add more lime juice, honey, or mint to taste.
