This Easy Hummus Recipe is super simple and delicious! Hummus is packed with lemon and garlic flavors, tahini and of course chickpeas.

What is Tahini?

Tahini is a ground sesame seed butter or paste that’s traditionally found in Middle Eastern cuisines. The consistency is almost like a crumbly meets fudgy type of texture. Not to mention, it’s typically made with just three simple ingredients: hulled sesame seeds, oil and sometimes salt.

Tahini has a earthy, savory taste to it. Sesame seeds are often toasted before grinding to bring out the natural nuttiness flavor.

What is Traditional Hummus Made Of?

Hummus, is a creamy dip that comes from the Middle East. The main ingredients are: chickpeas (aka garbanzo beans), tahini, garlic and olive oil.

Is Hummus an Anti-Inflammatory?

The chickpeas contain a good source of fiber, along with vitamins and minerals like manganese, copper, folate and iron. It may also easy inflammation, promote heart health and support blood sugar management.

Ingredient Substitutions

Tahini

You can switch out the tahini for either cashew, almond or a natural unsweetened creamy peanut butter. You can also totally omit the tahini, be sure to use more olive oil. Adding in sesame seeds will also work for the nutty flavor.

Chickpeas

Chickpeas are also referred as garbanzo beans. They are the same thing!

How To Make Hummus Recipe

It doesn’t get any easier than this! Simply place all of the ingredients into a food processor and pulse. If the consistency is too thick for your liking, you can thin it out by using more olive oil or even a tablespoon or two of water.

How To Store Leftover Hummus

Store any leftover hummus in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. You can enjoy cold or set out for 20-30 minutes and eat at room temperature.

  • 2 cans chickpeas drained & rinsed
  • 1 lemon juice + zest
  • 1/2 cup Tahini
  • 3/4 cup Olive Oil + 2 Tbsp for finishing/drizzle at end
  • 2 Tbsp Spice World squeeze garlic
  • 1 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Black Pepper

Instructions 

  • Put everything into a food processor. Finish with Olive Oil drizzle.
