Roasted Chickpeas Make the Perfect Snack
Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a snacker. I especially love to graze when watching a movie or a football game. I love to make these roasted chickpeas because they are perfect for the absent minded grazers out there like me. This low calorie snack is easy to make and saves me from making a trip to the grocery store in the middle of the night.
What Are Chickpeas?
Also known as garbanzo beans, chickpeas can be found in a variety of cuisines including middle eastern and Indian. If you enjoy hummus and tortilla chips or falafel and cucumber dip, then you can definitely add this recipe to your repertoire. Did you know that the word hummus literally means chickpea in Arabic?
It seems that chickpeas have been around for over 7,000 years and they are second only to the soybean in terms of production. Get to know the chickpea if you are leaning into plant-based nutrition. This is especially true if you are concerned about getting enough protein on your plate. Just one half cup of chickpeas provides almost 20 grams of protein.
