Transform the classic wedge salad into the perfect party appetizer by simply skewering the salad on a stick. You’ll add NatureSweet Cherubs®, iceberg lettuce, and crispy bacon strips right onto the skewer. Then top with blue cheese crumbles and creamy dressing, and serve. It’s the easiest salad skewer that’s perfect for parties, game days, and backyard BBQs.
At The Produce Moms, we love every salty, crunchy, crisp bit of a classic wedge salad recipe.
But when you’re at a pool party, backyard BBQ, or enjoying a day on the lake, chowing down on a salad isn’t exactly the most convenient when you have a paper plate and possibly no chair.

Wedge salad on a stick is sponsored by NatureSweet®.
So we added all of the same wedge salad ingredients to a handy skewer! It’s fun, it’s easy to eat, and it’s loaded with fresh produce that’s perfect for warm days. You only need 15 minutes to prepare your wedge salad on a stick, and then it’s ready to serve.

Ingredients

You’ll need three main wedge salad ingredients and a few toppings. We kept this recipe pretty simple because the ingredients speak for themselves in fresh, juicy, creamy, crisp flavor. If you’d like to add or substitute anything, do it! We want you and your family to have fun and enjoy your fruits and veggies.
Iceberg Lettuce
Every wedge salad has to include iceberg lettuce. Unlike other leafy green alternatives, iceberg lettuce is dense with strong, tightly packed leaves that hold up with rich, creamy, or heavy toppings. It also holds its cooler temperature well, making it ideal as an appetizer that can be left out without wilting. You’ll only need a small head of lettuce with vibrant green leaves and a white core. The heaviest ones usually have the tightest leaves with the most crisp texture.
NatureSweet Cherubs®
Grab a 10 oz. package of Cherubs® from the produce aisle. These grape tomatoes are the number one-selling tomato for their juicy, sweet burst of flavor, and our favorite part of this salad on a stick. Sustainably grown in greenhouses, NauturSweet Cherubs® are one of our go-to tomatoes for peak freshness.
Bacon
Crispy bacon makes everything better, including these wedge salad skewers. You’ll need 8 cooked strips of crispy bacon. The salty crunch completes the whole bite against the iceberg lettuce, juicy tomatoes, and rich blue cheese toppings. Don’t skip it!
Toppings
The rich, pungent, creamy blue cheese crumbles and dressing cuts through the heartiness of the iceberg lettuce, creating a contrast in flavor and texture. We also added a sprinkle of pepper and sliced green onion to balance out the richness of the blue cheese.
How To Make a Wedge Salad Skewer
Once you’ve got all of your wedge salad ingredients prepared, it’s time for the fun part: assembling your salad skewers. Grab your kiddos and let’s get started!
Step 1: Cook the bacon.
We like to cook bacon on a parchment-lined baking sheet at 400℉ until crispy, about 20 minutes. Then transfer strips to a paper towel to drain the excess grease and crisp up even more. But you can also air fry or pan sear it in a cast-iron skillet… totally up to you.
When it’s cooled, use your hands to break up each bacon slice into thirds and set aside.

Step 2: Prep the wedge salad ingredients.
While the bacon cooks, use a knife to cut your iceberg lettuce into bite-sized pieces. The leaves will separate easily, but that’s ok. They’ll stay together when we put them on the skewer later. Rinse your tomatoes (right inside the NatureSweet Cherubs® container), slice your green onions, and set them aside.

Step 3: Assemble your salad skewers.
Add a Cherub® tomato, a lettuce wedge, and a slice of bacon onto a skewer. Repeat the pattern until your skewers are full and then arrange on a serving plate. When you’re done assembling all of your skewers, drizzle the skewer plate with your dressing, use your fingers to evenly crumble the blue cheese, and sprinkle some freshly cracked pepper and sliced green onions for garnish. Then, serve!
