How to Select Parsley
- When selecting parsley, either curly or flat-leaf, look for fresh, crisp bunches with a deep green color.
- Avoid parsley bunches that are wilted, slimy, yellowing, or browning.
How to Store Parsley
How To Store Fresh Parsley: There are several methods to store parsley. The first method is to loosely wrap parsley in barely damp paper towels and place it in a plastic bag. Close the bag and refrigerator for 3-5 days.
The second method is to treat the herb like a flower bouquet. Trim the stems and place stem-down into a jar with an inch or two of water. Loosely cover the jar with a plastic bag and refrigerator for a week or two. Change the water every couple of days.
How To Freeze Parsley: Chop the parsley very finely until it is almost a paste. Portion out the chopped parsley into sections of an ice cube tray. Top with olive oil. Freeze through and then transfer the cubes into a freezer bag and store them in the freezer for up to a year. Check out our step-by-step guide to Freezing Herbs in Olive Oil.
