You probably recognize the North Bay Produce name from our recipes and from your local produce section. But you may have noticed that something looks a little different.

That’s because North Bay is launching their new rebrand, focused on connecting you with the real farmers behind the name.

With new augmented reality labels and a timeless, farmer-forward logo, hearing the words “From Our Farms to Your Family. Naturally®.” takes on a whole new meaning!

At The Produce Moms, we are huge supporters of farmers working hard to deliver fresh, long-lasting, delicious fruits and vegetables to American families. And we can’t wait to tell you about what’s happening during this highly intentional and thoughtful North Bay rebrand.

Let’s dig in!

Who Is North Bay Produce?

North Bay works with farmers all over the world to deliver year-round, always in season fruits and vegetables. So, what does this commitment to quality actually mean? Well, this is a very unique approach for a farmer-owned company that operates at a global scale.

Although the farmers actually own the company, North Bay takes on the responsibility of marketing farmers’ produce so the growers can focus on what they are passionate about – growing your produce!

North Bay headquarters are located in Michigan, with growers throughout North, Central and South America and now also in parts of Europe and Africa. They have consistently delivered on their promise of high-quality produce for over 40 years.

North Bay believes in transparency: they want you to know where your food is really coming from so you feel good about what you feed your family. In this next section, we’ll explore how North Bay is changing to ensure its commitment to meeting your needs.

So, Why the Change?

The previous logo featured a map in the center showing the western hemisphere, where North Bay’s farmers were growing produce when it first started marketing for farmers. In 40 years, North Bay has grown its family of growers. Instead of just updating the map, North Bay decided to take a closer look at the entire brand.

Farmers are at the core of the brand, so North Bay wanted to focus on that during this modern rebrand. Their sustainable farming practices come from generations of agricultural experience, a commitment to caring for the environment, and a dedication to delivering flavorful, long-lasting produce, all thanks to the heart of their brand: the farmer.

Who Is the Farmer?

North Bay puts careful thought into who this farmer is and what it represents. The new logo replaces the map with a farmer. It’s clean, timeless, and represents trustworthiness, work ethic, and diversity in its farmers. It can be a man or a woman from anywhere in the world.

“North Bay is thriving, and we used this rebrand to emphasize what’s behind that success – the farmer.” – Brian Klumpp (Director of Marketing)

Varietal Development

North Bay has always been committed to finding new ways to develop and produce new varieties that taste better, look better, and last longer after you bring them home. They strategically invest in working with universities and nurseries to learn which varieties and climates are best to efficiently grow high-quality produce. Then, they choose farmers with similar values to join the North Bay farmer family.

They want you to know that farmers are at the center of everything they do… and now you can see where they grow your produce!

Meet Your North Bay Farmers Through Augmented Reality

You know how committed The Produce Moms is to educating you and your family, so this is the part of North Bay’s rebrand that we are most excited about! The new labels include a QR code you scan with your phone. We encourage you to give it a try!

Depending on the time of year and the type of produce that you are buying, you’ll

  • be guided through a 3D farm diorama of the landscape where it was grown,
  • hear the back stories behind the farm of the produce in your hand, and
  • see the farmer come to life in an animated narration of that specific farm.

This is an innovative approach to connect with the global cooperative network of North Bay farmers and educate families in an entertaining way.

We call that a win!

We can’t wait to connect with farmers in the augmented reality to see where our produce is grown and keep serving our families high-quality ingredients.
