Dip into the butter board trend โ€“ hazelnut and produce style! Enjoy a creamy, nutty twist to butter boards for fresh fruits and salty snacks!

Butter boards are blowing up on TikTok, so we had to find a way to make an easy Halloween dessert with a butter board and fruits. And weโ€™re pretty excited to share this recipe with you.

Butter boards are an easy and quick way to serve an appetizer or snack for your next family game night or upcoming party Halloween party. And the best part is you can customize it to fit whatever tasty ingredients you have on hand.

Hazelnut Butter Board

We decided to use hazelnut spread as our โ€œbutterโ€ and fresh fruit to scoop that yummy goodness into your mouth. Is there anything better than chocolate hazelnut and fruit?

Now that our mouths are watering, letโ€™s get this hazelnut butterboard put together (before we start eating it out of the jar).

A butter board?

What's a butter board?

Butter boards became popular almost overnight after a food blogger shared her gorgeous butter board on TikTok. If you havenโ€™t seen the inspiration yet, itโ€™s exactly what it sounds like. Softened butter smeared on a board with tasty toppings that you scoop up with a piece of bread.

Itโ€™s easy, creative, fun, pretty, and, best of all โ€” affordable

Charcuterie vs. Butter Board

Produce Style Butter Board

Charcuterie boards are a little bitโ€ฆinvolved, and can be expensive to put together. All the fancy meats, cheeses, crackers, and crostinis can be a hit to your wallet. Although they look beautiful and taste delicious, itโ€™s not in everyone’s budget to create a charcuterie board.

Butter boards are similar to charcuterie boards in that everyone eats off of the same board. You pick and choose which toppings youโ€™d like, scoop up some dip, and youโ€™re all set. A butter board is a more presentable way to serve bread and butter with a few extra toppings like sun dried tomatoes, honey, or edible flowers.

Instead of bread and butter, for this new twist, weโ€™re using hazelnut spread with fresh fruit and salty snacks for an easy Halloween dessert.

Itโ€™s super simple. Pick your favorite dippers like strawberries, raspberries, and oranges. Use each piece of fruit to scoop up a chunk of hazelnut spread right from the serving platter, in the middle of your butter board. Put it on your plate and enjoy.

Plus, no extra dishes. No fuss. No mess.

How to serve

How To Serve

Assemble your board by placing the hazelnut spread in the middle and the fruit and salty snacks around it. Set the board where everyone can reach it and dig in. Butter boards are as diverse as the people who eat from them. Everyone from friends and family to workmates and neighbors will rave about your hazelnut butter board from the Halloween dessert table because there is something everyone will like.

Hazelnut Butter Board Tips

Tip

Type of board.

We used a large round wooden board for a relaxed, rustic feel and put our hazelnut spread in a serving bowl. After a lot of use, wooden boards can hold on to food or get warped. Be sure to wash your butter board by hand with soap and water. Never soak it.

Use a marble or slate board or line the wooden butter board with parchment paper to make clean up easy and protect the wood.

Like frosting a cake.

Youโ€™ve probably frosted cakes with your kids many times. Use the same back-and-forth motion when spreading your hazelnut spread. Better yet, hand your kids the spatula and let them add the toppings to your butter board. Kids love to help out in the kitchen. Watch their faces light up when you tell everyone that they helped.

Utensils are optional.

Butter boards are more of a fancy finger food. But if you, or your guests, would feel better about having a serving utensil for your dippers โ€“ like toothpicks โ€“ feel free to set them out.
