Ingredients For Copycat Crumbl Apple Cookies

For the Cookies

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup applesauce – you can substitute this out for an additional egg
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract

For the Apples

We used our Cinnamon Apple Recipe! This recipe can be enjoyed on top of these cookies, with ham, over ice cream and even pancakes!

  • 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

For the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Glaze

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5–6 tablespoons heavy cream

For the Cinnamon Streusel Topping

  • 3 tablespoons (24g) all-purpose flour, heat-treated
  • 1/4 cup (52g) sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, cold, cubed

How to Make Crumbl Apple Cookies at Home

Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugars: In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar on medium speed until light and fluffy.

Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg yolk, applesauce, and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. The dough will be thick. Use a rubber spatula to form a cohesive ball.

Recipe Tip

This takes a few minutes to bring the dough together. Don’t be scared when it becomes crumbly like the picture above. It’ll come together, just keep mixing! You can watch the recipe video to show you how it comes together!

Form Cookie Balls: Scoop out about 2 cookie scoops of cookie dough per ball. You should get about 10 balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, pressing down slightly to flatten.

Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Make the Toppings

Prepare the Apples: For this recipe, we used our Cinnamon Apple recipe.

In a medium size saucepan, over medium-high heat, add in the diced apples, lemon juice and water. Once the apples begin to soften and turn color, add in the sugar and cinnamon. Allow to cook for a few more minutes as the sugar will begin to caramelize and leave a nice sauce.

Make the Streusel: In a medium bowl, mix sugar, heat-treated flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cut in the cold butter until crumbly. Set aside.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together powdered sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, and 5 tablespoons of heavy cream. Add more cream if needed for desired consistency.

Assemble the Cookies

Glaze the Cookies: Spread 1-2 tablespoons of the glaze onto each cooled cookie.

Add Apples: Evenly distribute the prepared apples on top of the cookies (about 1-2 tablespoons each).

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1/4 cup applesauce (or an additional egg)
  • 1/2 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • For the Apples

For the Brown Sugar Cinnamon Glaze

  • Form Cookie Balls: Scoop out about 6 tablespoons (105g) of cookie dough per ball. You should get about 8 balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheets, pressing down slightly to flatten.
  • Bake: Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly browned. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5-10 minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Make the Toppings
