The coolness and spice of a fresh, fruity salsa goes perfectly with any day! The taste pairs perfectly with sunshine, a cool breeze… and maybe a tangy margarita. But here’s our favorite thing about salsas like this: they bring the sunshine with them no matter where you are or what time of year it is! This Tropical Avocado Pineapple Salsa can bring a little heat to any cold, rainy day. Just pair with some tortilla chips for an easy bowl of summer sunshine, add as a tropical topper to grilled fish or chicken, or spoon over tacos or a simple green salad to bring the tropics to your table.

This recipe isn’t like the other salsas. Bright yellow pineapple and delectable Desbry® tropical avocados make it a colorful course to serve with dinner or as a stand-alone snack. One bite of this chunky salsa and you’ll fall in love with its bold flavor.

A fresh take on salsa

Mix It Up with Tropical Avocados!

Tropical avocados perfectly compliment the sweetness of the pineapple in this salsa with their refreshing and bold flavor. Double or even triple the size of most Hass avocados, smooth-skinned and bright green tropical avocados are perfect for salsa. These abundant avocados boast a lower fat content than typical avocados. They have a lighter flavor and a sturdier texture that holds its shape well. This makes them perfect for dicing up in this Tropical Avocado Pineapple Salsa!

This salsa is best enjoyed with fresh ingredients. For the best flavor and consistency, don’t go overboard with the olive oil or vinegar. Chopping the red onion very finely will also help the salsa keep a creamy consistency without becoming too crunchy.

We recommend pairing Tropical Avocado Pineapple Salsa with some blue corn tortilla chips, but it can be enjoyed in all kinds of ways. Try it out as a taco topping with pork or jackfruit, too.

Pineapple and red onion give it an intriguing blend of sweet, sour, and savory flavors without any overwhelming spiciness. It works well in nearly any fresh Californian or Caribbean dish.

This salsa brought some sunshine to our family on a dreary day, and we think it can do the same for yours! Let us know how it went over and send us your recipe photos on Instagram @theproducemoms and @desbryproduce.
