A tart, subtly sweet margarita with no added sugar.
Strawberry Grapefruit Margaritas are a refreshing cocktail perfect for spring and summer. And Taco Tuesdays. And Girl’s Night. And Cinco de Mayo. And Friday Nights. Really…. when is a margarita NOT the right choice?
This margarita has a tartness that grapefruit-lovers will delight in. The sharpness is tamed by the sweetness of the strawberries. The margarita salt also takes some of the bite out of the grapefruit and tequila. The ingredients work together to create a tart yet subtly sweet cocktail full of refreshing spring-summer flavors.
There are two reasons we love this particular margarita recipe, other than the flavors. First, its vibrant color. When freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and strawberries are blended together, it results in an intense, rich pinkish-red color. There is absolutely no food coloring or dyes added to these bad boys. It’s au naturale!
The second, and perhaps most compelling reason to love these margaritas, is that there is absolutely NO ADDED SUGAR! They are meant to have a tart flavor, which is particularly refreshing in warmer months. The strawberries add just the right amount of sweetness. Many margaritas leave your whole mouth coated in sugar and sweeteners. Not these guys!
If you do want to dial up the sweetness and dial down the tartness, simply adjust the ratio of grapefruit juice to strawberries. More strawberries = more sweetness. Less grapefruit juice = less tartness. Tailor them to your specific taste.
This recipe is for Strawberry Grapefruit Margaritas on the rocks. You could easily make Frozen Strawberry Grapefruit Margaritas by adding a cup to a cup and a half of ice to the ingredients in your blender.
