Can I Make Caprese Salad Skewers Ahead of Time?

Entertaining with this caprese skewers recipe is a fabulous idea. Not only are they easy to put together, there’s no cooking involved, which we love the most! They make a great appetizer for any occasion!

We recommend putting these together up to 4 hours ahead of time and then drizzling with the balsamic glaze once you’re ready to enjoy. This helps to keep the freshness of the ingredients.

Of course, you can marinate the mozzarella balls for added flavor overnight if you prefer. Just keep them in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

How to Make a Balsamic Glaze

You can purchase this at your local grocery store. However, you can also make it at home with very little fuss.

To make a balsamic glaze, add one cup of balsamic vinegar to a small saucepan over medium heat. Once it comes to a boil, set on low/simmer for 10-15 minutes. This will reduce and become a thicker consistency. Allow to cool as it will thicken.

Be sure to allow the balsamic glaze to cool before drizzling over the caprese skewers. Otherwise the mozzarella will begin to melt and deform, and the basil leaves will wilt.
