Wish you were headed to New Orleans for Mardi Gras? We might not be able to jet off to the Big Easy but we can all bring a little Cajun flair to our tables. Kick-off your at-home Mardi Gras celebrations with Cajun-spiced Hasselback radishes.ย
Radishes are naturally a little spicy and peppery. Amplify their zest with Cajun spices! Cajun seasoning is a blend of spices including cayenne, paprika, garlic powder, pepper, and oregano. You can make your own or to simplify things use a good quality store-bought Cajun spice blend.ย
Cajun-spiced Hasselback radishes pair perfectly with a dip or dollop of homemade pimento cheese, a southern favorite.ย
How to Cut Hasselback Radishes
Youโve probably cut Hasselback potatoes before, but have you ever tried this method on radishes? Itโs easy and takes basic knife skills โ anyone can do it!ย
Begin by washing and drying your radishes and removing any roots or leaves. Ready Radishes from Dandyยฎ make this step easy. The roots and leaves have already been removed so you can skip right to the next step.
Place a radish in a spoon. Using a sharp knife, cut thin slices into the radish. The spoon will stop the knife before it cuts all the way through the radish. Once you have made thin slices, flip the radish, put it back in the spoon, and make additional cuts at a 45-degree angle.ย ย ย
Now your radishes are ready for their seasoning. Whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, and Cajun seasoning in a small bowl and brush on generously to each radish. Serve as is or add a dollop of pimento cheese to the top of each.ย
While these spicy radishes are perfect for Mardi Gras, remember then for tailgates and parties of all kinds. They are a hit any day of the week!ย
