Steak and Potatoes is a super simple meal that you can make for your family in just minutes, with no fuss. While this dish is filling on its own, you may want to serve it with a side salad, asparagus, Brussels sprouts or green beans for a complete meal.

If you don’t have an air fryer, we strongly suggest getting one! Not only does it not heat up the kitchen like the oven, but, it shortens the cooking process, leaves food evenly cooked and allows the skin on the potatoes to be crispy while the inside is soft and fluffy!

If you are a meat and potatoes family, this Air Fryer Steak Bites and Potatoes recipe is definitely for you!

Should you eat potatoes with steak?

We know…should this even be a question! Over the past several years, scientists in the US, New Zealand and Scotland have shown that eating resistant carbs like potatoes with red meat promotes better digestive health than eating red meat all on it’s own.

What cut of steak is best for steak and potatoes?

We are busy moms so time is of the essence most nights. For this recipe you want a tender cut of meat so that it cooks quickly. We used a sirloin for this specific recipe. You can also use a beef tenderloin (filet mignon), a strip steak or even stir fry meat that’s found in the meat department of your local grocery store.

What are the best potatoes to use?

We used Wada Farms Russet Potatoes for this recipe. However, you can also pick up a bag of Wada Farms Red or Gold Potatoes. Keep in mind when slicing your potatoes, to cut into 1″ pieces so that they hold together and all cook evenly.

Other Methods for Cooking Steak and Potatoes

We realize you may not have an air fryer and that’s ok! The time to cook the potatoes may be longer than the directions below as it depends on how big or small you cut the potatoes and what variety you are using.

Oven Method

Toss the potatoes together and then the steak separately. Place on a baking sheet into a preheated 375° oven. Bake for 35-45 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender and the steak is done to your liking. If you like steak a little more rare, you may need to remove the steak from the baking sheet before the potatoes are done.

Skillet Method

Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil to coat the pan. Add the seasoned potatoes and cook for 8-10 minutes, turning to crisp all sides.

Once the potatoes are cooked, remove and set aside. Add the steak with marinade to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes depending on the desired doneness of the steak. Add the cooked potatoes back into the skillet with the steak, toss together and serve.
