We love eating tomatoes. They’re a staple in dishes of all kinds and are always stocked in our kitchens. But did you know that this juicy, versatile fruit is good for more than just cooking? Some of us might look a little bit like tomatoes when we spend too much time at the pool, but tomatoes can help soothe your sunburned skin and fix your green hair! We’ll share two recipes from our partners at NatureSweet® that will help you recover when you’ve had a bit too much summer fun. Check out these home hacks to remove chlorine and relieve sunburn!

NatureSweet® Hair Rinse for Green Hair

The pool is the place to be on a hot day! Whether you’re at a public pool with the rest of your community or hanging out in your or a neighbor’s backyard swimming hole, it’s a great way to  keep cool and enjoy the outdoors. Swimming is a great way to exercise and have a good time, which can be a rare combination.

NatureSweet® Hair Rinse for Green Hair

Pools are loaded with chemicals that help keep them clean but can have some undesirable side effects – particularly on light-colored hair. If your kids have spent the summer doing laps for the swim team or learning to get their feet wet at swim lessons, you might have noticed some extra “greenery” around your home. But don’t worry: we have a way to degreen hair without shaving it all off!

This NatureSweet Hair Rinse is made with either Cherubs® or Glorys®. Resist the temptation to pop these juicy, snackable tomatoes in your mouth as you make this recipe (or buy a second container for snacking!). The combination of lemons and tomatoes easily pulls the green tint out of chlorine-damaged hair.

NatureSweet® Sunburn Salve

Sunburn is no joke during the summer. While a healthy dose of sunshine can help your body get the vitamins it needs to stay healthy, too much can be harmful for your skin. And we all get a bit too much at some point during this sunny season!

NatureSweet® Sunburn Salve

Sunburn makes your skin irritable and it can make you irritable, too. Everyday activities become uncomfortable or painful. Depending on where you were burned, even just wearing a shirt can be unbearable! But if your skin is the color of a tomato, this useful fruit can actually provide you with some relief.

This NatureSweet® Sunburn Salve is made with just two ingredients: tomatoes and Greek yogurt! They come together to form a cool, soothing paste that will relax your skin and help it begin healing. Use plain Greek yogurt and your choice of NatureSweet Cherubs® or Glorys®.
