Elevate Any Dish with Pears

This year’s Super Bowl happens to fall just before another special day: Valentine’s Day! That means you might be looking for recipes that are great for parties and a little romantic, as well. We have good news: Pears can do both! This underrated fruit looks elegant in a fruit bowl and is perfect for Valentine’s Day. And with their stylish hue, red pears lend themselves to the mood of your at-home Valentine’s Day celebration.

Elevate Any Dish with Pears

Want to bring home some pears for your party or romantic dinner? Start by finding a ripe pear! To check for ripeness, press your finger into the pear just below the neck. If it yields to slight pressure, similar to a peach or a stone fruit, you know you’ve found a ripe pear. When you’re ready to prepare your pears, use an apple slicer to make the perfect size of slices.

Pear Galette

Try The Produce Moms’ top recipe: the Pear Galette! This dish will make you feel like you’re enjoying a romantic evening at a Parisian cafe, but it’s simple to make in your home kitchen. Featuring sweet, juicy USA Pears and crunchy, flavorful walnuts, our Pear Galette is sure to delight.

Pear Galette

Our Pear Galette is simple to make. There’s no need to make the pastry base from scratch. We simply used a premade pie crust. Bosc pears, walnut crumble, and maple glaze completes the galette. To fit all those tasty pears onto your pastry, start by slicing each pear in half and removing the cores. Cut each of the halves lengthwise into thin slices, but don’t separate them.

When you’re done, simply try to fill as much of the pie crust with the pears with few gaps between them. Leave about a one-inch border around the pears and fill in the crevices between them with the walnut crumble mixture.

Supersized Avocados for your Super Bowl Recipes

Go big for the big game with Tropical Avocados from Desbry! These huge avocados are perfect for shareable recipes for your Super Bowl watch party. They’re easy to slice and slower to oxidize than the smaller Hass avocados, making them perfect for dips and bowls that you can leave out for snacking.

Stuffed Tropical Avocados

Here’s a unique recipe that’s easy to make! These Stuffed Tropical Avocados look just as good as they taste. Your football fans will love taking a bite of an avocado overflowing with tasty toppings. It’s the kind of savory and messy dish that makes for a Super Bowl party classic.

Stuffed Tropical Avocados

Start by slicing your tropical avocado in half and removing the pit. Next, score the flesh of one half of the avocado to make it easier to eat from. This also helps the rest of flavors seep into the avocado itself. When you’re done, just add your toppings – we used sweet potatoes, corn, and black beans on ours. Finish it all off with a crema or vinaigrette to bring all the flavors together.
