Air Fryer Banana Split

Once you make this Banana Split recipe, you are going to quickly become addicted! Not only is this recipe gluten-free and vegan, but it is made with staple ingredients already found in your kitchen. You can make one or multiple banana splits in a matter of minutes.

Another thing we love about the air fryer banana split is that there are no added sugars. A traditional banana split is full of sugar from the ice cream and sauces that are drizzled all over it. So, we prefer this version much better!

What is banana split made of?

A traditional banana split is made up of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream. However, our air fryer version has a little healthier spin on the traditional banana split. We use bananas, nut butter, walnuts, dark chocolate chips and cinnamon for a new twist on the old classic!

What does a warm banana split taste like?

If you’ve never had your bananas cooked or warmed up, you are missing out! Heating up the banana makes it soft, creamy and full of banana flavor! This version of a banana split is warm, gooey and packed full of sweet and delicious ingredients. And the best part is you can make it your own with whatever ingredients you choose!!

  • Nut Butter
  • Dark Chocolate Chips

Don’t be afraid to try other variations. Not a fan of walnuts? Then, you should use almonds or pecans. If you don’t like dark chocolate, you could white or milk chocolate chips. Want more? Top it with berries or other fruits! We also love adding a bit of Greek yogurt to the top. You could also use whip cream for a little sweeter taste. The point is that the options are endless, and we want you to get creative and to make this recipe your own!

How to Make a Banana Split

knife cutting through skin of a banana

First, start by splitting your banana down the middle by cutting through the skin. If you happen to get into the banana, that is perfectly okay.

Produce Mom Tip: To prevent your banana from rolling over, cut a small slice of the skin away so that it stands up straight and doesn’t tip over when moving back and forth in the air fryer.

Next, pour a tablespoon of nut butter into the opening of the banana. Depending on what nut butter you are using, you may want to heat it up in the microwave for a few seconds to make it easier to work with and drizzle into the banana.

Then, top with the dark chocolate chips and walnuts.

The next step is to carefully add your bananas to the air fryer basket. Set the air fryer to 350° for 6-8 minutes. The skin of the banana will become ripe from the heat of the air fryer. This is perfectly normal. The banana will be soft and the chocolate melty!
