Looking for a sweet treat that is contains simple ingredients and made in just a few minutes? These Apple Hand Pies are made in the Air Fryer. However, if you don’t have an air fryer, we show you how to make these Apple Hand Pies Recipe in the oven as well.

We make these Air Fryer Apple Hand  Pies more than we care to admit. The kids love them with brown sugar and cinnamon on top. However, we prefer to not have the added sugar. The kids say they taste like the McDonald’s Apple Pies and prefer to top theirs with vanilla ice cream and drizzle caramel sauce over the top for a decadent dessert. While the adults usually prefer to dunk it straight in the caramel sauce. They are warm, flaky and a perfect dessert recipe the entire family can enjoy making together.

How do I bake apple Hand  pies in the oven?

Pre-heat your oven to 375 degrees.

Create your hand pies per the directions below. Instead of placing the apple hand pies in the air fryer basket, place parchment paper on a baking sheet. Bake the hand pies at 25-35 minutes, or until golden brown.

How long do you air fry a hand pie?

With your Air Fryer, set the temperature to 350 degrees and cook the apple hand pie for 8-10 minutes. Make sure that you pre-grease the basket so that the pie dough doesn’t stick prior to placing in the basket. Allow the hand pie to cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Ingredients for Apple Hand Pies

The ingredients for these apple hand pies are pretty easy. Your life become a little bit easier when you use the Crunk Pak pre-sliced apples!

  • Crunch Pak Apple Slices
  • Brown Sugar
  • Cinnamon
  • Corn Starch
  • 2 Pre-Made Refrigerated Pie Crusts
  • Egg Wash

How do I make an egg wash?

This is really simple. Crack an egg into a bowl and whisk. Add in 2 tbsp of water and whisk until the egg has thinned out and water has combined. You can also add a pinch of salt to the egg wash if you desire, I have never done this, but know it’s an option.

How do you make air fryer apple hand pies?

First start by chopping your Crunch Pak apple slices. Once the two bags of apples slices have been cut, add them to a medium sized bowl.

Next, add in your brown sugar, cinnamon and cornstarch.

Mix the ingredients together until the apples have fully absorbed the dry ingredients.

Next, lay out your refrigerated pie dough. we rolled ours out a little bit so that it was easier to work with as we were making the pies. Lay down 1 tsp of the apples on the pie dough, leaving enough space for edges for each hand pie. Place the second pie dough over the top of the apple mixture.

Using a pizza cutter slice each hand pie, be sure to leave enough room so that you can seal the hand pie in the next step.

We like to press the dough down with our fingers to seal before we use a fork around the edges. This ensures that the juices will remain in the hand pie and won’t leak out. Once you’ve secured the pie dough, use a fork and go around the edges to completely seal the hand pie. You can see how we did this in the video above.

Once the hand pie has been sealed, now it’s time to bake it. We will provide both options in the recipe card below for air fryer or baking in the oven.
