How To Make Beet Hummus

At snack time or dinner, our families are happier when there’s some hummus among us! This dynamic dip can be classy or casual — it all depends on how you serve it. It’s both a versatile dip and a hearty spread. We love just about any kind of hummus, but beet hummus boasts a unique flavor and fun color that makes it a joy to eat.

One of the best things about hummus is that it’s simple to make yourself. Using a food processor or blender, you can make your own hummus that’s better than what you’ll find at the store.

For this recipe, start by chopping the beets into small pieces. We recommend cutting them into one-inch cubes to make them easier to blend. Fresh beets are difficult to blend, though, so boil them in just a little bit of water to soften them up. This helps you achieve an irresistible creamy texture in your beet hummus.

What Beats Beets?

Beets sometimes get overlooked in the produce department which is a major shame because they’re packed with nutrients! Vitamins B9 and C mean this vibrant veggie can help your kids beet a cold and stay healthy through summer or the school year. Beets are also a great source of fiber and minerals like potassium and iron.

Beet Hummus

Add a nutritional boost to your kids’ day with this beet hummus. It makes a delicious dip for fluffy pita bread, crunchy chips, or crisp veggies like celery, broccoli, or carrots. But you can get even more creative with it, too! Try spreading it on sandwiches or in wraps. It’s the perfect complement for falafel and shawarma rolls.

Hummus keeps well for a few days, so you can make it and snack on it throughout the week. Store it in an airtight container and it will remain fresh for up to five days. It’s also great for packing in lunches for school, work, or summertime activities. To keep it cool and tasty, pack it in an insulated lunchbox next to an ice pack.
