How to Slice, Mince, and Dice Onions
How many of you love to cut onions?
Cutting an onion into the perfect shape for cooking is not the easiest thing in the world, especially when it causes you to shed a puddle of tears. Wouldn’t you be so proud of yourself if you could learn how to slice, mince, and dice onions like a pro, AND do so without crying very much?
Well, it’s your lucky day! Our awesome onion expert partner, Peri & Sons Farms has put together an easy-to-follow infographic showing step-by-step instructions on how to slice, mince, or dice an onion.
The only equipment you need is a sharp, non-serrated knife, a cutting board, and of course, your onion!
How to Cut Onions Without Crying Too Much
The secret key to limiting how much you cry while chopping onions is to toss them in the freezer for 20 minutes prior to the cut. If you first cut the top off, peel the outer layers, and leave the root intact, you will successfully reduce the amount of tears you experience during the cutting process. That’s where the majority of the sulphuric compounds are located.
Keep in mind that no cut will be flawless, but no matter what shape your onion pieces take, it will still have the same delicious taste!!
Don’t forget to keep your fingers safe while you chop, and HAPPY COOKING! 🙂
