The Best Apples for Apple Pie Filling

We personally enjoy the SweeTango® variety for this apple pie filling. They are not overly sweet, have a bit of tartness and hold their shape well.

You can also use other apple varieties like:

  • Golden Delicious
  • Granny Smith
  • Honeycrisp
  • Braeburn
  • Cortland
  • Conagold

How to Freeze Apple Pie Filling

While we prefer to use this recipe right away, you can freeze it! Plus, you can double or triple the batch to save time and use later.

Simply make the recipe as directed. Once cooled, place the apple pie filling in an air tight container or storage bag. You’ll need to defrost overnight in the fridge before using.
