Tips for a Stunning Flower Veggie Tray

  • Use a variety of colors: The more colorful your vegetables, the more visually appealing your tray will be.
  • Cut the vegetables uniformly: Consistent sizes and shapes will make your arrangement look neater.
  • Get creative with your hummus: Use different flavors of hummus, such as roasted red pepper, garlic, or spinach artichoke, for added flavor and visual appeal.
  • Add more veggies: Feel free to add other colorful vegetables, such as cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, or broccoli florets, to your tray.
  • Make it ahead: You can prep all the vegetables in advance and store them in the refrigerator until you’re ready to assemble the tray. Assemble the tray closer to serving time for the freshest look.

Ingredients Needed To Make a Flower Veggie Tray

  • 3/4 bell pepper (various colors, such as red, yellow, and orange)
  • 1/2 of a 16 oz bag of multicolored carrots
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 1 cup sugar snap peas
  • 1-2 cups hummus (flavor of your choice)

How To Make a Quick & Easy Flower Veggie Tray at Home

Prepare the Vegetables:

  • Peppers: Wash the bell peppers. Carefully slice off the top and bottom. Then, slice the remaining pepper into wide rings. These rings will form the “petals” of your flowers.
  • Carrots: Wash and peel the multicolored carrots. Cut them into sticks, about 3-4 inches long, for easy dipping.
  • Green Onions: Wash the green onions. Trim the root ends and cut them into long pieces to serve as the “stems” of your flowers.
  • Sugar Snap Peas: Wash the sugar snap peas. Trim the ends, leaving them whole to resemble “leaves” or “grass.”

Create the Flower Arrangement:

  • Green Onion Stems: Arrange the cut green onion pieces to create the “stem” of the flower below the bowls of hummus.
  • Pepper Flowers: Arrange the pepper ring “petals” around the hummus bowl, creating the shape of a flower. Use different colored pepper rings for variety.
  • Carrot Stems: Place the carrot sticks around a separate bowl of hummus, radiating outwards, to create additional stems.
  • Sugar Snap Pea Leaves/Grass: Scatter the sugar snap peas around the base of the flowers and stems to resemble leaves or grass, filling in any gaps on the tray. You can place some pea pods vertically to look like taller grass.
