Blood oranges are in season now!  There is no better time of year to enjoy this tasty & unique citrus fruit!  Delicious out-of-hand & one of my favorites for salad dressings!

Organic-Blood-Oranges

Blood Oranges get their distinct red flesh from anthocyanins, a type of antioxidant that is very rare for citrus fruits! The flavor is very similar to traditional oranges.

  • 1 cup blood orange juice freshly squeezed (approximately 4 blood oranges)
  • 2 tbsp champagne vinegar (can sub white or red wine vinegar)
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 shallot minced
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 2/3 cup olive oil extra virgin
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
  1. Place all ingredients in a bowl except for the oil & whisk to combine.
  2. Slowly drizzle in the oil, whisking constantly.
  3. Season with salt & pepper.
