We are often asked about our favorite or must-try produce department items. Recently we had a follower ask what we like to buy at Costco. This sparked an idea, and we hope you all enjoy today’s post.
We’ve compiled a list of 8 produce items to pick up next time you are shopping at your local warehouse. Keep in mind that club stores like Costco have a very dynamic and fluid inventory model. If you cannot find one of the items at your local Costco, you can request it to be stocked.
The items on our list reflect produce seasonality, brands we trust, and top choices for back to school. Also, these products will be some of the most affordable, delicious, and nutritious items in your next Costco haul.

Hooray! Pear season is happening now! Look for bags of fresh pears at Costco. Sweet and juicy Bartletts are the first on shelf and other varieties will follow in the coming months. Bartletts, unlike other pear varieties, change color from green to yellow when ripe. Remember when you bring the pears home, pears ripen at room temperature. “Check the neck” for ripeness. Apply gentle pressure to the neck of the pear with your thumb. If the pear yields to slight pressure, it’s ripe. Once the pear is ripe you can refrigerate the fruit to slow down the ripening process. Although, we recommend simply eating the pear. They are loaded with fiber, refreshing and delicious flavor, and did we mention how affordable pears are?! Truly a PEARfect fruit!
