When you think of summer nights, you probably think of campfires. When you think of campfires, you most definitely think of s’mores. There’s really no better sweet treat for a late-night snack while hanging around the fire with dad. S’mores are ooey, gooey and full of sweet flavors that stoke up nostalgia and create long-lasting memories. They’re almost the perfect sweet treat.
But what would you say if we told you there’s one more ingredient to add beyond chocolate, marshmallows, and graham crackers that make this classic even tastier? That new secret ingredient just so happens to be a summertime favorite too. Watermelon!
As a naturally sweet and flavorful fruit, watermelon is an ideal choice for taking your s’mores up a notch. With a simple tweak to the classic s’more, you’ll be able to create a new take on the old favorite that everyone will enjoy.
Watermelon isn’t just sweet and fun to eat, it’s also a superfood. S’mores don’t have to be just a sweet indulgence. Adding watermelon means you’re also adding several important vitamins and minerals like vitamins A, B6, and C plus magnesium, potassium, thiamin, and phosphorus.

How to build the perfect Watermelon S’more
Start by toasting your perfect marshmallow. Some like a light golden finish while others enjoy setting their marshmallow on fire for a minute and letting it char. Do your own thing, we don’t judge!
Build your s’more by starting with a graham cracker bottom, a piece or two of milk chocolate, your toasted marshmallow, a thin slice of watermelon, and one more graham cracker to top it off.
Smush it all down and let the sweet goodness melt together, and then take a big ‘ol bite. When it comes to enjoying s’mores, the messier the better. That milk chocolate and marshmallow starts to melt together and the watermelon adds a freshness you just don’t get with the classic s’more.
