Valentine’s Day is fast approaching! It’s a holiday that you either love or dread. Or maybe you’re someone like me who typically stays at home or seeks out the restaurant with the best kiddie specials because you have children now & the days of spending money on exquisite candlelit dinners downtown are trumped by your monthly daycare tuition. Ahhh…. Kids. Gotta love ’em.
Well, Chef Concetta helped me prepared a menu that makes it easy to enjoy romance at home, even if your dinner party includes guests sitting in high chairs. It’s easy, it’s elegant & you will still have money left in the bank for the childcare bill.
Of course, the best part of the meal is the dessert! Chocolate covered strawberries are the quintessential Valentine’s dinner dessert. Chef Concetta helped me put a new spin on a traditional favorite by adding a little flair. We’ve dressed our strawberries in dark chocolate tuxedos and white chocolate dresses. How romantic is that?!
The true secret to dipping strawberries in chocolate is to start with DRY berries. Even the tiniest amount of water left on your strawberries can make the chocolate look funky. And presentation always counts, especially on February 14th!!! You should always wash your fruit in cold running water before eating, but make sure the strawberries are completely dry before you dip!
