Apple Cinnamon Waffles

Are you tired of the same old breakfast routine? Why not mix things up with a batch of hot, freshly-made waffles? This Apple Cinnamon Waffle recipe is sure to please the whole family. And the best part is that they are so easy to make.

Are pancake and waffle mixtures the same?

While pancakes and waffles use a similar batter, with eggs, flour and milk, waffle batter is thicker than a pancake batter. It also tends to have more sugar and fat, from oil or melted butter.

Should the apple waffle batter be thick or thin?

When you are making waffle batter, you want it to be thick. But, you do not want it as thick as dough. It should easily pour into the waffle maker, but move slowly. It should almost have the consistency of honey when it moves.

How to Keep Waffles Warm

Whenever we are making a batch of waffles, we want to keep them warm while making each batch. If you are trying to serve all of the waffles together, you do not want the waffles to get cold. Place a wire rack on top of a baking sheet. Then, place the cooked waffles on the wire rack. The wire rack ensures circulation around the waffles and prevents the bottoms from getting soggy. Set the oven to 200 degrees. This keeps the waffles warm and crispy, while not burning them, until it is time to eat.

What should go on top of Apple Cinnamon Waffles?

These apple waffles are perfect just the way they are. Of course we top them with Envyโ„ข apple slices. Add a dollop of butter on top or a bit of maple syrup, but you can do even more if you want.

Whipped cream or powdered sugar are also delicious waffle topping “go-tos.”

Add sautรฉed apples. Cook more apples in a skillet with a touch of brown sugar and butter until they are tender. Then, add the sautรฉed apples on top of the waffles.

Caramel Sauce. Nothing goes better with apples than caramel, so adding a bit of caramel sauce on top of the apple cinnamon waffles will take them to the next level.

Ice cream. I know that most people think about these waffles for breakfast. But who says waffles can’t be a dessert?

Make Ahead Breakfast

While fresh apple cinnamon waffles are amazing, sometimes we don’t have time to make waffles every morning. That doesn’t mean that we can’t have an incredible, hearty breakfast each morning. You can easily make these waffles ahead of time.

Make the apple waffles and let them cool completely. Once the waffles have cooled, place them in an airtight container or freezer bag. Reheat the waffles in the toaster. Doing this will help bring back that crispy texture you want with waffles.

You can also freeze the apple cinnamon waffles. Once the waffles are cool, place them in a freezer bag. You can place a piece of parchment or wax paper between the waffles to prevent sticking. The waffles can be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. Thaw the waffles in the refrigerator overnight when you are ready to use.
