Waffle Pops (Waffles on a Stick) - The Produce Moms

Waffles pops are at that delicious intersection of breakfast and dessert. Like donuts or gooey pastries, they are perfect for extra special breakfasts (think birthdays or celebrating the first day of summer break) but they can also be served as a dessert.

They are a crowd-pleaser at parties, both with kids and adults. Next time you’re hosting a birthday shindig, skip the cake and hand out waffle pops to everyone’s delight!

How To Make Waffle Pops

Waffle pops are a cinch to make! Use your favorite waffle recipe or even a box mix. Once your waffles are out of the waffle iron, break them apart and put an ice-pop stick in each one. The stick will slide right it with little effort — just be sure to get smaller sticks if you are using a mini-waffle iron.

Next, drizzle or dip your waffle pops in melted chocolate. While the chocolate is still warm, add pieces of sweet fruit and crushed nuts.

Some of our favorite fruits to add include pomegranate arils, berries of all kinds, orange segments, and kiwi. You can also add dried fruit like raisins or sprinkle with coconut flakes.

Let the chocolate set. This will keep the fruit and nuts in place so they don’t slide off the waffle when picked up by the stick. Once the chocolate is set, all that’s left to do is enjoy them!

Instructions
  1. Sift together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and melted butter. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until just incorporated.
  3. Pour waffle batter into a greased waffle maker and cook until golden brown. Repeat until the batter is gone.
  4. Melt the chocolate chips according to the directions on the package.
  5. Dip each waffle in the melted chocolate or drizzle on top. While the chocolate is still warm, add the fruit and nuts.
  6. Allow chocolate to set and then serve.

In addition to classic waffles dipped in chocolate, try chocolate waffles drizzled with melted peanut butter or banana waffles and whipped cream. Decorate with fruit and nuts just as you would the classic waffle dipped in chocolate.
