Take advantage of apple season with a delicious dessert. We love apple pie and apple cobbler as much as the next mom, but it can be hard to find time in our busy schedules to bake a pie. This year, don’t stress over a sweet dish. Go easy on yourself with this SweeTango Instant Pot Dump Cake! SweeTango® apples give this cake an unforgettable flavor that your family will clamor for year after year. And using an instant pot, baking this recipe is as easy as pie… or easier!

A cake for one!

SweeTango® Apples: Perfect For Baking!

Why does the apple variety we used matter? Because the SweeTango® stands out from the crowd! It features a remarkably loud and satisfying crunch and is perfect for both baking and snacking out of hand. With a hint of citrus, honey, and spice in its juicy flavor, this apple is sure to become a favorite. SweeTango® apples are available from mid-August or early September through November or early December.

Apples aren’t just for flavor, though! At The Produce Moms, we always strive to cook up recipes full of nutrients, and this SweeTango Instant Pot Dump Cake is no exception. Dessert may not be known as the healthiest course in a meal, but nutrient-packed SweeTango® apples give this cake a boost. With no fat or cholesterol, apples promote good gut and heart health. This cake will make your family smile and you can feel good serving it to them!

SweeTango Apples are great for baking!

Baking a SweeTango Instant Pot Dump Cake

The SweeTango Instant Pot Dump Cake can be found in our new eBook, SweeTango® for ALL Eating Occasions. Check it out to find more recipes that complement the unique flavors of SweeTango® apples. In this recipe, we’ll use vanilla and cinnamon to do just that!

To make this cake, you’ll need to place the cake mixture in an oven-safe bowl inside your instant pot. We used foil to make a sling to safely lower it down into the pot. Burning your hands on the pot really puts a damper on the fun of baking!

Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, stir the cake mix, vanilla, cinnamon and egg. Then fold in the SweeTango apples to combine.
  2. Pour 1 ½ cups of water into your Instant Pot. Put a trivet at the bottom of your pot.
  3. Spray your oven safe bowl and dump the mixture into the dish. Cover that with foil, and make a sling out of foil to lower it on to your trivet inside the Instant Pot.
  4. Put the lid on the Instant Pot, close steam valve, and set to manual, pressure, high, for 28 minutes. Do a natural release.
  5. Take out, remove foil, and let stand for 10 minutes on a cooling rack.
  6. Top with ice cream. Serve and enjoy!

This cake is delicious alone, but it’s even better topped with a bit of ice cream! Vanilla works just fine, but feel free to get creative. A scoop of butter pecan ice cream might just take the cake!
