Enjoy cherry season with a homemade Cherry Vinaigrette

Want to add some summer sunshine to your salads this season? Drizzle Sweet Cherry Vinaigrette over any salad for an extra burst of summer flavor. It is bursting with fresh cherry flavor and will make even simple salads sing!

Sweet Cherry Vinaigrette

Nothing says summer like quite like fresh cherries. Sweet and tangy, this easy vinaigrette is simple to make and quick to devour! Begin by reducing sweet cherries in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Once the cherries have been reduced, add them to a blender along with the rest of the ingredients. Blend until smooth and pour into a Mason jar or salad dressing container. Store in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. Shake before each use.

Sweet Cherry Vinaigrette

Ingredients 

  • 1.5 cups sweet cherries pitted
  • 1/3 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 red onion diced
  • 2 cloves garlic halved
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions 

  • In a small saucepan, reduce cherries with a couple teaspoons of water over medium-low heat (approximately 10-15 minutes).
  • In a blender, combine all ingredients and blend until smooth.

    1. The recipe states to cook on a low heat for 10 – 15 minutes with a small amount of water. The cherries will get soft and release their natural juices. Evaporation will occur and the cherries work “ reduce” in volume. Also Cherry flavor will intensify. Patience and stirring is required so you do not burn.
