It’s graduation time around the world, and we have created the cutest graduation dessert that will be the hit of the party. Strawberries are gorgeous this time of the year, and we have found a fun way to show them off. You can easily create these chocolate strawberry graduation caps with minimal ingredients and 15 minutes of time in the kitchen!
Graduations are such a huge milestone at all levels: preschool, kindergarten, 8th grade, high school or college. Once all the emotions and excitement of the big day settle down, the graduation party planning begins. It’s important to have several different finger foods and treats alike. We think that adding these strawberries with chocolate caps will WOW and impress your guests. They will think you put hours into making them, when in actuality it will only take about 15 minutes! Plus, they will make for an extra festive and fun centerpiece.

Ingredients for a Special Chocolate Strawberry Graduation Dessert
- 1 lb. Fresh Strawberries – bigger strawberries work best.
- 10 oz. White Vanilla Flavored Melting Wafers – used as the base of the “cap” and also the “glue” for the candy eyes and chocolate squares
- 10 oz. Chocolate Flavored Melting Wafers – used for the graduation cap tassel
- 1 package of Ghirardelli Squares (any flavor) – you can use any chocolate squares
- Eye Candy – smaller size will work best
- Food Coloring – if you want to color the tassel with your graduate’s school colors
How to Make Graduation Chocolate Strawberries
First, wash and dry your strawberries. Then, cut off the top and the bottoms of the strawberries. This will help them stand up and have a flat surface to place the “cap.”
Next, melt your chocolate melting wafers. You will dip the smaller side of the strawberry into the melted chocolate, about 1/4 of the way down on the strawberry. This will create the base of the cap. Let it dry before you add the chocolate square on top.
Right below the melted chocolate, add on the candy eyes. Use the melted chocolate as the “glue.”
Then, it’s time to add the “cap.” Place a small drop of melted chocolate on the back of a chocolate square. Next, put it on top of the melted chocolate side of the strawberry. Hold in place for 5-10 seconds. Let it dry.
Finally, you will melt white chocolate. Add it to a baggie. You can add food dye for desired color (we suggest using your grad’s school colors). Mix in bag. Snip the tip of bag, and pipe the tassels starting on the top of the chocolate square.
Now you just need to place all of your finished graduation strawberries on a plate for everyone to enjoy! These little graduates will be the talk of the party!
