1 ½teaspoonsGingerfreshly grated or ground
1teaspoonCinnamon
2-3cups Waterplus extra if needed
3Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
Instructions
Make the Marinade: Add the prepared pears, ginger, cinnamon, and 2–3 cups of water into a blender. Puree until completely smooth. Set the pear marinade aside.
Prep the Chicken: Rinse the chicken breasts under cool water and pat dry. Trim off any visible fat. Slice the chicken into thin, uniform strips (slicing partially frozen chicken makes this step much easier!).
Marinate: Place the chicken strips into a large bowl or sealable bag and pour the pear marinade over top. If needed, add a splash of extra water to ensure the chicken is fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to infuse.
Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 180°F (82°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a wire cooling rack.
Arrange the Strips: Lay the marinated chicken strips on the baking sheet about ½ inch apart. Brush a little extra marinade over each strip for maximum flavor.
Slow-Dry to Perfection: Place the sheet in the oven. Keep the oven door cracked slightly open (you can use a wooden spoon to hold it open) to allow moisture to escape. Bake for about 3 ½ hours, or until the chicken reaches a firm, dry appearance and texture throughout. Allow to cool completely before serving to your dog.
