1poundsweet Italian ground sausage

½teaspoonblack pepper to taste
1cupred wine
3- 28ouncecans of crushed tomatoes
¼cupItalian parsley finely chopped
¼cupbasil finely chopped
1cupmilk
1cupRomano cheese grated
1cupheavy cream
Instructions
Use a food processor to finely chop the Dandy® celery, onion, and carrots.
Melt the butter in a large pot over medium-high heat. Next, add in the onion, carrots, and celery, and sauté until the veggies begin to caramelize, typically takes about 6 – 8 minutes.
Remove the cooked vegetables from the pot and set aside in a bowl.
Add the olive oil and ground beef and Italian sausage to the pot. Cook for about 10 minutes until the meat browns. Be sure to break down the meat into small pieces that are consistent with the size of the vegetables.
Add the red wine to the hot pot. Which will help to deglaze the pan, getting all the flavors of the small browned bits stuck to the bottom. Scrape the bottom of the pot with a large spoon to help get all the stuck bits loose as they are packed with flavor!
Return the vegetables back to the pot, mix well and allow to cook for 5 minutes.
Add the chopped garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Add the crushed tomatoes, milk, basil and parsley. You want to make sure that you mix this really well as it's a big pot! Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to a simmer.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 3 to 4 hours.
Stir in heavy cream and Romano cheese, mixing well to incorporate into the sauce.
Season with sea salt, black pepper and crushed red pepper to taste.
Serve with your favorite wide noodle pasta that has grooves in the pasta to soak up all the sauce. A pasta like penne works well!
