Ingredients
4medium bosc pears
1tspcinnamon
1premade pie crust
1large egg
1/4cupmaple syrup
1/4cuplight brown sugar
1/4cupchopped walnuts
5tbspbuttermelted
1/4cupall-purpose flour
1/4tspkosher salt
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
For the maple glaze: In a small bowl, combine 2 tbsp of melted butter and the maple syrup together in a small bowl. Set aside.
For the crumble: Combine remaining melted butter (3 tbsp), flour, chopped walnuts, brown sugar, 1 tsp of cinnamon and salt in a medium-size bowl. Stir with a fork until ingredients are combined and wet crumbles form. Set aside.
On a cutting board, cut the pears lengthwise in 2 halves, removing the cores. Slice into ¹⁄₁₆-inch thick slices. Slice all the way through, but keep the pear halves together.
Lay the pie crust on the prepared baking sheet and arrange the pear halves on top, separating the slices to cover the center of the crust, leaving a 1-inch border around the edge.
Place crumble mixture into crevices between pears and into any open areas along the perimeter of the pears. Try to keep most of the sliced pears exposed for a pretty presentation.
Fold the edge of the crust over the pears.
Beat the egg in a small bowl, then brush over the crust. Sprinkle coarse sugar on top of the egg wash.
Bake for 20 minutes.
Take out and lightly brush on the maple-glaze. Cook for another 5-7 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
