Thanks to everyone that watched me yesterday on Indy Style! And thanks to Indy Style for having me back on their program. It’s always such a fun time… especially when we’re talking healthy snacks for the Big Game!
During my second segment we talked about snack mixes made entirely out of items from the Produce Department. Yum! The Produce Department is always your best bet for healthier alternatives to traditional snack food. Yet, lots of people don’t realize just how many great snacks are available there!

If you’re getting together with friends for the Big Game, why not make a snack mix buffet where friends can create their own mix? People will appreciate a healthier option & they will love being able to mix & choose their favorites!

Two of my favorite snack mix recipes are a Sweet & Salty Snap Pea Mix and a Bold & Savory Lentil Mix. For both of these recipes I use Harvest Snaps as the base.

Harvest Snaps are one of my favorites snacks. You can find them in the Produce Department & they come in two varieties – Snapea & Lentil. I like them because they are high in fiber & low in sodium & fat. They are also baked. The Snapea varieties are made from 70% whole Peas. The Lentil varieties use 65% Lentils. This completely addictive snack is also gluten free, which is a great option to offer guests with so many people avoiding gluten nowadays!

Sweet & Salty Snap Pea Mix

This Sweet & Salty Mix uses two of the Snapea varieties of Harvest Snaps. You can mix it all together or create a fun buffet by setting out different shaped containers of the following:

Lightly Salted Snapea Crisps
Black Pepper Snapea Crisps
Dried Cranberries
Banana Chips
Chopped Dates
Sliced Almonds

Snapea Crisps

Bold & Savory Lentil Mix

The Bold & Savory Mix uses two different types of the Lentil Snaps.
Tomato Basil Lentil Snaps
Onion Thyme Lentil Snaps
Wasabi Peas
Crystalized Ginger
Pistachios
Sun Dried Tomatoes

Lentil Snaps

I hope you’ll try these delicious & healthier options to the traditional snack mix & let me know what you think! Don’t be afraid to experiment & add in your own favorite items from the Produce Department! Enjoy!

xoxo,

The Produce Mom
