Meet United Fresh

Today I want to introduce you to one of the most influential organizations in Fresh Produce…  United Fresh Produce Association (United Fresh).  When I was in Washington, DC. I had the extreme pleasure & honor to meet with United Fresh.  This organization represents global leadership in my industry.  United Fresh has existed for over a century & ever since it was founded in 1904, this trade association has been dedicated to helping the complete supply chain.

What’s that mean?  Well – every business around the world who contributes to bringing fresh fruits & veggies to the consumer is part of the supply chain.  The supply chain has many steps.  Basically, it starts with the farmer & ends with the consumer.  As my website has taught you though, there are many many stages & steps from farm to fork.  United Fresh promotes the growth & success of produce companies & their partners – the people & businesses in the supply chain.  It’s essential that I work closely with this organization as I educate you through this website.

I have so much pride in serving the fresh produce industry via my job at Indianapolis Fruit Company.  We are a distributor & sit at a nice stage right in the middle of the supply chain… the perfect stage, if I do say so myself, to author an all-encompassing & revolutionary marketing blog that promotes the consumption of fruits & vegetables, teaches consumers how to select, store & serve their fresh produce, and serves as a bridge between the vast supply chain & our universal “end” aka YOU, the consumer 😉  So you see, the farmer is part of the supply chain, Indy Fruit & The Produce Mom are part of the supply chain, and YOU are part of it too… and there are TONS of other contributors.  United Fresh offers us leadership & helps keep our vast supply chain as efficient & cohesive as possible.  This organization is essential & allows our industry to serve you and your family in a professional manner.

United Fresh’s offerings to the supply chain… at a glance:

  • Leadership in government relations, issues management and media advocacy
  • Leadership in food safety/quality assurance/nutrition and health
  • Focus on innovation/business growth through increased produce sales and profitability
  • and more…

Now perhaps you appreciate that our industry has this presence on Capital Hill, global food safety standards & this trade association that helps unify the vast supply chain… and you can certainly understand HOW these efforts affect you as a consumer of fruits & veggies… BUT, you likely are most interested in programs that are MORE RELEVANT or PRESENT in your DAILY life.  Well, the work of United Fresh is highly relevant in your daily life.  They have a commanding & highly influential presence in school cafeterias across the nation.

Drum roll, please… SCHOOL SALAD BARS.
