Pacific Rose Apple | Where to Buy Pacific Rose Apples

I always say there is a produce item for everyone.  You may not like Brussels Sprouts, but I’m going to bet there is another veggie that you DO like.  Same thing with fruit: maybe you dislike Cantaloupe… yet love Strawberries.  I’m so adamant about this sentiment, my school foodservice campaign is named “Find Your Favorite.”  There IS a favorite out there for everyone!

Apples are certainly one of my favorite produce items.  And as the ag industry continues to evolve, the amount of apple varieties will continue to grow!  It’s really amazing, and maybe somewhat overwhelming, how many varieties of apples exist today!  And, yes, there is a favorite apple out there for everyone.

I’ve previously blogged about exploring the apple category & shared some of my favorites.  Of course I still love my Jazz, Honeycrisp & Autumn Glory Apples.  But I have a new favorite now, too.  PACIFIC ROSE.  Omg – you must try it!  First, it’s adorable with its bright magenta pink color.  Looks amazing in the fruit bowl.  Second, it’s only been around since 2005 which makes Pacific Rose an infant when you think about how long we’ve been farming apples – eat this apple & be a trend-setter/hipster/modern foodie/etc!  And last, but not least – it tastes great!  Pacific Rose is everything I want in an apple: it’s sweet, it’s crisp, it’s juicy, and it has thin skin that won’t force you to floss after every bite.

  1. I just ate my first Pacific Rose apple and immediately fell in love with it. Went right to the computer to look up info about it. Glad to see that other people like/love it too. It’s far different than any apple I’ve ever had. Not even sure it tastes like an apple. But it is delicious.

    1. Hi Kathy,
Look for the Pacific Rose in store November thru April. We’re happy to help you locate a retailer but will need to know your location. You can also contact Pacific Rose directly with your inquiry: [email protected] or by phone at 1-888-321-6779.

  3. This is the best apple I have ever tasted. I bought some about 2 yrs ago, but my store rarely orders them and they’re hard to find in CO. I wonder if they’re going to be offered online.

  4. I discovered Pacific Rose Apples about 8 years ago. Wonderful, best I’d ever eaten. For the next 4 years they were not easy to find here in the south (Shreveport, LA). I have found them these last 2 or 3 years. Not NEARLY the same apple. Looked the same, maybe a little smaller but no taste!! I’ve been so disappointed but I am hopeful they will be large and sweet again. Where can I order a bushel?

  5. I don’t believe I have ever had an apple that I loved like the Pacific Rose. I thought it was Envy from New Zealand, but oh how I love the Pacific Rose. The best apple ever.

  6. I get so happy when I find these apples. They stay crisp and sweet even when sliced. I get sad when I can’t find them and so happy when I can!

  7. I ate a Pacific Rose apple for the first time a year ago and fell in love!! OMG! So delicious and so beautiful! It’s the only apple that I recommended and offered to all of my friends. I’m looking forward to Pacific Rose season: November through April!

  8. A decade ago I was introduced to Pacific Rose apple at a Safeway store in Gaithersburg, MD.
I just fell in love with this variety. Every year I bought dozens of it. It keeps well in the refrigerator. Knowing that it was originally imported from New Zealand, when I went there recently ( Dec-Feb 2018), I looked for it. Surprisingly, I couldn’t find any in the grocery stores.
When I arrived home, I went straight to Safeway, and now I am already enjoying it!
