Lights, Camera, Action: My 1st Cooking Demo

Last week I learned that I was named an Indiana “Female Focus” by local news station, Fox 59.  We’re in the process of giving the blog a facelift – we started it with a minimal budget, because as I explained in my last post – we had no idea where The Produce Mom would take the company.   Thanks to you, though, it’s time for an overhaul.  And I’m totally loving every minute of it!  Have you ever worked with an interior designer & redecorated your house?  Yeah.  Me neither.  But I imagine it’s similar to redesigning a blog –  a ton of fun!  I have a pretty strong opinion, yet minimal knowledge on anything related to computers.  I don’t know if the IT team finds me annoying, dumb, funny or charming.  But I love them & owe Chris, Eric, Brian, Grant & Troy a HUGE thank you (and probably about 6 cases of beer) for putting up with me & my high emotions!

As you may have noticed, changes are happening on the blog & I’m spreading my presence across the social media world.  Today I joined Foursquare & got a YouTube channel.  It’s incredible how much free marketing is out there thanks to social media & the Internet!

My YouTube channel will primarily showcase cooking & produce preparation demos.  When I was named Female Focus, we decided live videos on the blog were an essential.  And I pretty much showed up for work on Thursday – told my IT manager Chris what I thought we needed to do (see note above about my strong opinions) & we called in our video production team and I winged it in the test kitchen while the camera rolled.  It took us 37 minutes to film this first demo – I wish I had some of the outtakes to share with you.  There were literally countless times where I would be mid-sentence & just say “that sucked. start over.” hah!  Next time I will do myself a favor & have a prepared script & manicured nails.

But for now, please enjoy my YouTube debut…

And I just realized I have no clue how to embed the video into the blog so you can see the screen & just click play when you are reading this. Sorry, IT guys…. looks like I’ll be bothering you again tomorrow!

xoxo Produce Mom
